First elected to the Scottish Parliament in 1999.

Helen Eadie was the first candidate to be declared a Labour and Co-operative Member of the Scottish Parliament. She also stood as a candidate at the 1997 general election for Roxburgh and Berwickshire.

Born in Stenhousemuir, Helen Eadie was educated at Larbert Village, Larbert High, Falkirk Technical College and London School of Economics (Certificate in Trade Union Studies - Industrial Relations Department). Helen Eadie is married with two daughters.

Past employment has included laundry, supermarket, TV outlet, past Chair of STUC Youth Advisory Committee, full-time administrator for GMB in Glasgow then in London as Equal Opportunities and Political Officer, assistant to Harry Ewing MP and Alex Eadie MP (Helen's father-in-law) and member of James Callaghan's general election campaign team.

Member of the Political Bureau of the Conference of Peripheral and Maritime Regions.

Helen Eadie is a member of the GMB, Co-operative Party, Fabian Society, Edinburgh Labour Business Forum, Labour Movement in Europe and the European Movement.
